A street for strolling
Today Torgovaya is a pedestrian street in the very centre of Baku. There are no cars here: only the stone pavement, lamps, benches and a stream of strollers. Along the street are boutiques and shops, cafes and restaurants, banks and even the embassies of several countries. It is one of the busiest and most expensive streets in the city.
Coffee on the promenade
Torgovaya is a street of unhurried shopping and long coffee. Boutique windows give way to cafe terraces, where it is pleasant to sit and watch the passers-by. In the evening the street does not empty: the lights come on, and a walk along it becomes part of a Baku evening.
The heart of the stroll
In the very centre of the street spreads Fountains Square — a favourite meeting place of the city. Here fountains play, sculptures stand and cafes work, and all around are ornate historic buildings. The square and Torgovaya together form the main space for strolling in central Baku.
To come to Torgovaya is to find yourself where Baku never sleeps and is always beautiful.
